I've always believed the Australian bush has stories to tell—if we're prepared to slow down, be patient, and simply watch and listen.

When I was first introduced to this Wedge-tailed Eagle nest, I knew I wanted to return as the weeks passed. Across four visits, I had the privilege of photographing one young eagle chick as it grew, changed, and prepared for one of the most important moments of its life—its very first flight.

In these pages, I'm inviting you to share that journey with me through 104 photographs captured over those visits. Each image tells a small part of the story, revealing the beauty, resilience and wonder of a world that few people ever have the opportunity to witness so closely.

As I sat quietly observing and photographing this remarkable bird, I watched a vulnerable nestling slowly transform into Australia's largest bird of prey. It was a privilege to witness these moments, and an even greater privilege to preserve them through my camera.

My hope is that Before the Eagle Flies allows you to experience some of the wonder I felt while spending time with this magnificent eagle.
